Famously referred to as the “teardrop on the cheek of time” by the great Indian writer Rabindranath Tagore, Taj mahal was a token of love from the great Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Post this period, summer is likely to commence in the region with temperatures of 40+ degrees on some days. Months of April, June and July are scorching hot, especially during the day time. Only after July, you will find signs of monsoon, which typically starts in early August and goes till end of September.
Taj Mahal is open to visitors from 6 AM to 7 PM every day, except on Fridays. It is closed for prayers on Friday. The monument is also open for night viewing every full moon until midnight, plus two days before and after the full moon making it a total of 5 evenings in a month.

This famous structure was commissioned by Nur Jahan (wife of Jahangir), for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg.
